Commentary on the event at the Belarusian NPP
Gosatomnadzor was informed by the State Enterprise “Belarusian NPP” in accordance with the established procedure on the need to replace the electrical measuring equipment at power unit No. 1 of the Belarusian NPP. That was revealed during the tests at the “power start-up” stage. The equipment to be replaced related to the 4th safety class and does not affect the nuclear and radiation safety of the facility, which is ensured properly by the personnel and safety systems of the NPP. The latter perform its functions in normal mode.
The State Enterprise "Belarusian NPP" informed all interested parties about the current situation.
Currently, in accordance with the license issued on October 23, 2020, a staged program “power start-up” is under implementation at power unit No. 1, which provides for work and tests at various power of the reactor No. 1 within up to 50% of the nominal.
Gosatomnadzor carries out supervision at the site of the Belarusian NPP in permanent mode (24/7).
