Meeting of the scientific and technical expert council in the field of nuclear and radiation safety

On April 10, 2024, a meeting of the scientific and technical expert council in the field of nuclear and radiation safety was held at Gosatomnadzor.

During the council's session five projects of scientific assignments planned for implementation in 2024-2025 within the framework of measure 13 of subprogram 3 “Scientific support of efficient and safe operation of the Belarusian NPP and prospective directions of nuclear power engineering development” of the State Program “Science-intensive technologies and engineering” for 2021-2025, the customer of which is the Ministry for Emergency Situations were taken into consideration.

The topics of the reviewed projects of scientific assignments were related to the simulation of consequences of a severe beyond design basis accident using the COCOSYS software tool, verification of thermohydraulic calculations using the ATHLET software tool, analysis of core safety criteria for scenarios of daily NPP power control using the “Raduga-EU” software tool, development of a CAD grid-scale model of the reactor containment of the Belarusian NPP and exploring the influence of the Belarusian national culture characteristics on the behavioral narratives of employees of operating and other organizations involved in the nuclear power program implementation.

Based on the results of the review, four projects were approved for further implementation, and one project was sent for revision.
