Delegation of the Regulatory Authority of Slovakia visited the Republic of Belarus
In the development of bilateral cooperation between the regulatory authorities of the Republic of Belarus and Slovakia in the field of nuclear and radiation safety, a delegation of the Regulatory Authority of Slovakia headed by its chairman Marta Ziakova visited Belarus on August 2-4, 2017.

In April 2017, within the framework of the visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus A.V.Kobyakov to the Slovak Republic, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus and the Regulatory Authoriey of the Slovak Republic in the field of state regulation of nuclear safety.

The Memorandum provides  cooperation in the main areas of regulatory activities, including the exchange of experience on nuclear and radiation safety supervision, safety assessment, acceptance and installation of nuclear power plant equipment, emergency preparedness and response.

The visit of the delegation of the Regulatory Authority of Slovakia to the Republic of Belarus on 2-4 August, 2017 was the first event in the development of the Memorandum of Understanding and included working meetings in the units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus - the Department for Nuclear and Radiation Safety and the Republican Center for Emergency Management and Response, as well as in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus (for a press release on the meeting in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, see the link).

The working meeting in Gosatomnadzor was devoted to further cooperation in the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding. The sides exchanged information on the development of the regulatory infrastructure for nuclear and radiation safety in Belarus and Slovakia, discussed certain regulatory activities, such as licensing of activities and supervision of nuclear facilities. One of the topics for discussion was the forthcoming consideration of the National Report of the Republic of Belarus on stress tests in cooperation with the European Commission (currently it is being prepared). At the end of the meeting, thematic issues were identified for planning joint activities in the short term.

During the visit to the Republican Center for Emergency Management and Response, the delegation got acquainted with the work of the center and the measures envisaged by the national emergency response system in the event of a nuclear or radiological accident.
