Head of Gosatomnadzor takes part in the CIS events on atomic energy safety

From 3 to 5 December in Nizhny Novgorod (Russian Federation), Ms. Olga Lugovskaya, Head of Gosatomnadzor, takes part as chairman in the fourth meeting of the Council of the Senior Officials of Safety Regulatory Authorities for the Use of Atomic Energy of the CIS Member States, as well as in the twenty-fifth meeting of the CIS Commission on the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy.

During the meeting, the Council is expected to discuss its activities in the current year, work plans for the upcoming future, and activities to be carried out in 2025 by the basic organization of CIS member states on the development of national nuclear infrastructures in support of the Set of Measures to Improve the Safety Culture in the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy.

In the course of the Commission’s meeting it is planned to consider the informational cooperation of the CIS member states in the transportation of radioactive sources, the Implementation Plan of the Agreement on Cooperation of the CIS member states in the Exchange of Radiation Monitoring Data and other issues. Also during the meeting of the Commission participants will take part in the conciliation meeting of the Commission’s experts and technical tour.

The Council of the Senior Officials of Safety Regulatory Authorities for the Use of Atomic Energy of the CIS Member States was established in January 2022 on the initiative of Gosatomnadzor. Its objectives are aimed at identifying common issues in the field of nuclear and radiation safety regulation, defining a common approach to the regulation of nuclear and radiation safety of nuclear facilities, improving the efficiency, quality and openness of the activities of nuclear and radiation safety regulatory bodies. The previous meeting of the Council was held in November 2023 in Minsk.
