The regular National Report of the Republic of Belarus has been prepared

Belarus has prepared the 8th National Report on Implementing the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management.

Document has been developed by Gosatomnadzor jointly with the interested state bodies and organizations.

Efforts undertaken by the Republic of Belarus to ensure safety in radioactive waste and spent nuclear materials management are fully reflected in the Report with regard to the “challenges” identified for the country at the 7th Review Meeting of the Contracting Parties.

The 8th National Report is available on Gosatomnadzor’s web portal.

In accordance with the IAEA procedures, country National Reports are updated every three years and uploaded on the web platform of the Joint Convention for further review and consideration by the Contracting Parties.

On September 5, 1997, the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management was adopted by the Diplomatic Conference convened by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The Joint Convention was ratified by the Law of the Republic of Belarus No. 130-Z of July 17, 2002 and entered into force on February 24, 2003.
