Delegation of Gosatomnadzor took part in a working meeting with the representatives of the Russian nuclear industry
Within the period from July 25 to July 26, a meeting with representatives of Rostechnadzor, Federal Budgetary Institution “Scientific and Engineering Centre for Nuclear and Radiation Safety” (SEC NRS), Department of Civil Defense and Population Protection of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation and organizations of Rosatom State Atomiс Energy Corporation was held in Moscow to discuss the issues of ongoing and further cooperation.
Event was organized on the initiative of Rostechnadzor.
The Belarusian delegation was represented by Ms. Olga Lugovskaya, Head of Gosatomnadzor, Mr. Grigory Astashko, Deputy Head of Gosatomnadzor, and Mr. Dmitry Pavlov, Head of the Division of Radioactive Waste and Nuclear Legacy Facilities Management.
Among the major topics addressed during the meeting were approaches to the establishment and siting of radioactive waste disposal facility and formation of the Joint Scientific and Technical Council in the Field of Nuclear and Radiation Safety.
Furthermore, the sides considered ways of providing support to third countries in terms of regulatory activities within the framework of the concluded agreements, as well as coordination of proposals on the programs of the Belarusian-Russian joint activities under the Union State that are being developed. Among them are the programs “Overcoming Negative Consequences of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Accident”, “Enhancing Approaches to Preparedness of the Authorities, Forces and Means of the State Systems for Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation for Prevention and Elimination of Accidents and Emergencies of Radiation Character”, “Establishment of a Complex for Manufacturing and Certification of Detecting Equipment with Specified Parameters” and “Safety in Radioactive Material Management”.
Following the outcome of the event, it was agreed to proceed with the implementation of joint projects between Belarus and Russia aimed at strengthening nuclear and radiation safety.
