Issues of development and implementation of the Union State programs were discussed during the workshop in Polotsk

On June 26, delegation of the Ministry for Emergency Situations represented by Ms. Olga Lugovskaya, Head of Gosatomnadzor, Mr. Dmitry Pavlov, Head of the Division of Radioactive Waste and Nuclear Legacy Management, Ms. Natalia Gurnovich, Head of the Division of Science and Information and Mr. Oleg Lyubochko, Director of the Scientific and Technical Centre for Nuclear and Radiation Safety took part in the workshop on the development and implementation of the Union State programs and projects, dedicated to the XI Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia.

Event, organized by the State Committee on Science and Technology and the State Institution “Belarusian Institute for System Analysis and Information Support of Scientific and Technical Sphere” was hosted by Polotsk State University named after Efrosinia Polotskaya.

Objective of the workshop – to present the practical experience related to the development and implementation of the scientific and technical programs and projects of the Union State (main stages, problematic issues, results).

Workshop was attended by representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State, State Committee for Science and Technology (SCST), Ministry of Economy, National Center of Intellectual Property, National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Rosatom State Corporation, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Russian Research Institute of Economics, Politics and Law in Science and Technology (RIEPL) representatives of 19 major universities, 13 scientific institutes as well as other organizations of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation.

Mr. Sergey Shlychkov, Chairman of the SCST, and Ms. Svetlana Ivanova, Head of the Department of Economics and Industry Programs of the Standing Committee of the Union State, addressed welcoming words to the attendees of the event.

Ms. Olga Lugovskaya presented on “Role of Joint Activity Programs in Ensuring Nuclear and Radiation Safety of the Union State”.   

At the end of the event, the participants expressed their ideas.

At the present stage, Gosatomnadzor together with the Russian colleagues carries out activities on the development of four programs of the Union State:

on overcoming the negative consequences caused by the Chernobyl NPP accident;

on establishment of a production and certification complex for detection equipment with specified parameters;

on ensuring safety in radioactive waste management;

on improvement of approaches to preparedness of administrative authorities, resources and means of the state systems of prevention and remediation of emergency situations of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation in order to prevent and eliminate accidents and emergencies of radiation character.

It is planned to implement the respective programs starting from 2025.
