A working meeting with representatives of research institutes and educational institutions was held

On February 16, 2024, Gosatomnadzor held a working meeting with representatives of the State Institution “Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Radiation Medicine and Human Ecology”, International Sakharov Environmental Institute, Belarusian State University and the Institute of Radiobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

At the meeting the drafts of scientific assignments proposed by research organizations and educational institutions to be included in the list of the Task 5 activities “Conducting Scientific Research and Informational Work” within the framework of the State Program on Overcoming the Consequences of the Chernobyl NPP Accident for 2021-2025 were reviewed.

Participants discussed development of guidelines defining the procedure for modifying the status of radiation hazardous areas for further economic use, taking into account the amendments to the Regulation on the procedure for attributing lands located on the territories subjected to radioactive contamination due to the Chernobyl NPP accident to radiation hazardous lands and their exclusion from radiation hazardous lands, approved by the Decree No. 962 dated October 23, 2012, in terms of land plots exclusion from radiation hazardous lands for non-agricultural purposes.

The proposed approaches to the transformation of the Chernobyl legislation in terms of radiation contamination territories zoning were considered as well.
