Gosatomnadzor held an emergency response drill

On April 23, 2024, Department for Nuclear and Radiation Safety arranged an emergency response drill, which was held on the basis of the Information and Analytical Center of Gosatomnadzor. The key objectives of the event were to examine performance capability of communication channels, elaborate proposals regarding the protective measures and ensure interaction between situational crisis centers.

Situational crisis centers of the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Health, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Belarusian NPP took part in the drill.

Taking into account the situation created in the course of the drill, which was conditioned by a hypothetical breakdown in a nuclear facility operation, specialists of the situational crisis centers carried out a set of measures in order to evaluate and anticipate the situation evolvement as well as develop proposals for taking control actions.

Emergency response drills of the Information and Analytical Center of Gosatomnadzor are conducted on a regular basis to strengthen specialists’ competences and maintain preparedness to fulfill the functions of a regulatory authority in case of accidents at nuclear energy facilities.
