Polish National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA) delegation visiting Belarus

Within the framework of the development of bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Poland in the field of nuclear and radiatio

n safety, the delegation of the Polish National Atomic Energy Agency, headed by Andrzej Przybycin, visited Belarus on September 11-14,

2017.

On October 26, 1994, the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Poland conducted a bilateral international agreement on prompt notification of nuclear accidents and cooperation in the field of radiation safety.

Under the Agreement regular bilateral meetings are planned to exchange information on nuclear and radiation safety. The previous exchange of information took place on August 11-12, 2015 during the visit to Warsaw.

During the working meeting in Gosatomnadzor the sides exchanged information on the development of the regulatory infrastructure for nuclear and radiation safety in Belarus and Poland, discussed certain regulatory activities, such as licensing and supervision of facilities, use of nuclear energy, emergency preparedness and response, preparation and conduct of review missions and follow-up missions of the International Atomic Energy Agency . Belarus also presented its experience of international cooperation on the issues of nuclear and radiation safety and information activities.

Polish delegation visited the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. During the visit to Ostrovets the delegation was presented the progress of the nuclear power plant construction, supervision on the site and the results of the IAEA Site and External Events Design Review Service (SEED). Along with this, the delegation visited the Information Center of the Belarusian NPP, where it got acquainted with the work of the center and its activities on interaction with the public.

The sides noted bilateral benefits from information exchange within the intergovernmental agreement and will continue this interaction in the future.
