At the end of last week, next scheduled information hour was held for young specialists of Gosatomnadzor at the age under 35 years. Such events are regularly held in the department with the aim of open communication between managers and young specialists in order to improve the work of the department.

As a result of the IAEA mission on the integrated regulatory infrastructure review (IRRS) in the Republic of Belarus in October 2016, the set of measures of Gosatomnadzor for work with young specialists was evaluated as one of the good practices. Such practices are usually recommended by the IAEA for use in other countries.

The topic of the information meeting of June 30, 2017 was the specifics of the civil service, its basic principles and requirements for civil servants. During the conversation, the head of Gosatomnadzor, Olga Lugovskaya, noted that the public service is not just a job or an activity. This is a professional service activity, fundamentally different from all other types of practical and spiritual human activity. Experience shows that the civil service has a professional nature in terms of the goals and quality of the actions performed, in terms of the effectiveness of its functions. At the same time, it has a politico-administrative character based on the results of its activities and a legal nature in its essence.

One of the main functions of a civil servant is management. As an example of an algorithm that young professionals should follow in their work, Olga Lugovskaya spoke about seven management paradigms that are the basis for carrying out assignments from their analysis to presenting the final result.

During an open discussion about the day-to-day regulatory activities in the department, young specialists shared their views on the organizational and thematic aspects of the work in Gosatomnadzor, and made proposals for its improvement.

At the end of the event the head of the department Olga Lugovskaya summed up the results of the discussion and wished the young specialists success on the way of professional development.
